The Machungwani land committee has urged the County government to settle farmers currently at the disputed land.

Speaking today when they paid a visit to H.E Governor Andrew Mwadime at his office in Mwatate, the committee chair Johnson Nguluma said that they have invested a lot of resources in the land.

"More than 3,000 people have invested their resources in the 2970 acre land which is among the top producers of bananas in Taveta. We want to be settled so that we can invest more on the land and produce enough food for the County," he said.

Mboghoni MCA Salim Taraya added that the land is a source of livelihood to many people and that there is need for the occupants to be settled since the lease had expired.

H.E Mwadime assured the residents that he will work with the relevant institutions to solve the land dispute amicably.

"I will involve the national government and our county leadership to arrive to a solution."
