The Director of Criminal Investigations Mr. Mohamed Amin, has today received his Rwandan counterpart Mr. Jeannot Ruhunga, who paid him a courtesy call at his Mazingira complex offices along Kiambu, road in Nairobi.

The visit by the Secretary General of the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) comes barely months after Amin’s predecessor was hosted in by the Rwanda Investigation Bureau on a similar visit. 

During the meeting, the DCI Chief observed that the visit cements the existing collaboration between the two agencies and that it will strengthen the collective resolve in addressing common challenges to ensure the safety and security of citizens from the two countries.

On his part, Mr. Ruhunga noted that a strong partnership between the two agencies would innovatively identify strategies that can be mutually implemented to protect the two countries from serious crimes and contribute to regional safety and security.

In their engagements, the two security chiefs agreed to work towards formalizing cross-border partnerships in various disciplines of policing including training, joint operations and monitoring of criminals, as well as combating terrorism, drug trafficking among other transnational organized crimes. 

The two also agreed to improve the existing information sharing channels and appreciated the need for a more mutually beneficial engagements for a safer region, especially between the Rwanda INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) and Kenya’s NCB based at DCI headquarters. 

Mr. Ruhunga was later taken on a detailed tour of the various directorates and departments within the recently launched 

DCI National Forensic Laboratory.
