County partners with private sector

Investors from ORANA led by director Niels Østerberg called on Governor Andrew Mwadime at his office in Mwatate and discussed area's of partnership in the establishment of a fruit processing plant in Taveta.

‌Apart from establishing a banana processing plant, the Governor told the investor to consider passion fruits, avocado,mangoes among other fruits that have the potential to produce high yields in the county.

‌"My focus is to see how we can collaborate with you to open up industries that will inturn add more money in the pockets of our people. We have the potential to produce the products needed to sustain the industry. We have the best macadamia nuts at Taita Hills and this is another area we are looking at to get the best market for our farmer's through establishment of a local processing factory instead of selling raw as it is happening currently," quipped the Governor.

‌Peter Ngeli, program manager Micro Enterprise Support Programme Trust(MESPT), Joseph Karani MESPT project officer, Priscilla Nzalu MoonBerg Organic Farms project manager and Ridhiwani Sadiki,an official from SDGs Strategic Partnerships and Local Governance in Counties were present.
